I asked the subreddit /pcmasterrace about my setup and most replies said it was underperforming. I got some upgrade suggestions but want help choosing parts. Also, outside of gaming I do a lot of 3D renders with particles and After Effects. My budget is $500 to $1000 (including case). Here’s my PC: CPU i7-490K, 16GB DDR3, 3.40GHz RAM, GTX 2070, Asus P9 X79 motherboard, EVGA Nexus 750 SSD, WD Blue 1TB SSD. Link to my Reddit post.

The issue lies with the first-gen i7 processor. You should upgrade it because it causes significant bottlenecks in the 2070 model. I corrected the typo thinking it was the first-gen, but it could actually be the CPU itself.

Consider options that don’t require a full replacement. On eBay or AliExpress you’ll find LGA2011 Xeons with various configurations, including 12C/24T models suitable for work. Prices may be steep for certain versions, yet still cheaper than buying a brand new system. Also note the i7-4930 is a third-generation chip, not a first-gen one.
