I'm having trouble using my laptop microphone as input and headphones as output. I don't get any sound in or out unless I switch to headset mode on both devices. Discord warns that using the same Bluetooth device for input and output reduces quality, which I've noticed every time I change to headset. My friend seems unaffected and uses a nearly identical configuration. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. 2017 Inspiron 5566 JBL TUNE770NC

Some BT wireless headphones can only handle one function at a time unless switched to Headset mode with lower quality. Make sure your friend is using BT, not a 2.4GHz wireless connection.

This information is helpful since I initially assumed a 2.4 or 5 GHz frequency, but you were asking about the USB connection.
