I played with some friends and they invited me to join, so we could all talk. Discord is a platform for voice and text conversations that works through a browser or an app. Using the browser just requires a username, no sign-up needed if you're only using it occasionally. The app needs registration to download. It’s becoming a popular choice, with everything feeling straightforward and modern. Teamspeak isn’t always nice or simple, but it’s functional and strong. Discord resembles Teamspeak in many ways. If anyone has used Discord, I’d love to hear their opinions. Maybe I’ll try it out myself.

It might be a good idea to give it a shot right away. I plan to run some sessions and check how it feels.

I only use Skype since everyone in my gaming group has it.

It seems interesting but not open-source, and the privacy policy is quite long. "This might also contain text, images, and links from chats you send through your account." "We also gather data on how you use the app, like click counts, pages viewed, time spent, and when you interact. The date and time of your activity are tracked too." I’ll keep using Mumble.

It seems like the setup is quite complex with various roles and permissions. Many users who switch from TeamSpeak are opting for smaller-scale solutions within close circles, using similar voice tools. I manage a large TeamSpeak server with 1024 users and multiple guilds worldwide, running everything around the clock. We rely heavily on features like Channel Commander, subscription tiers, join rights, priority speaking, and custom permission groups such as Commanders, Guild Officers, and Community Gatekeepers. There are also groups for tagging members or recognizing achievements. Fine-grained control and group management are essential, even though the linear 0-75 system in TS3 isn’t perfect. This could be a strong alternative for my guild’s private TS3 server.

Skype isn't ideal for gaming. The voice quality is poor and lacks in-game features. It's great for video calls but not suitable for pure voice chat. Encourage your friends to give it a shot. Setup was quick and simple. It's easy to use and fast. Compare it to other options and see what you think.

Interesting choice. Have a look at Discord and share your thoughts. Your feedback would be valuable.
