Discord issues when using just one network (other services work)
Hi everyone, I just moved into a new house and got a fresh internet connection. I've been using my Dell G7 7700 laptop with a WiFi 6 card to work until I finalize the setup. Everything seems normal on Ethernet, but with WiFi I'm seeing inconsistent speeds. Downloads are spiking between 70 and 500Mbps, while uploads stay around 0.1Mbps. Other speed tests show consistently higher downloads and upload speeds of about 40-50Mbps. I suspect the issue is tied to Speedtest.net, but it only appears when connected via WiFi. My phone and TV are fine, and file transfers between my NAS and laptop are strong (over 500Mbps). This is unusual for my old setup with an AC router and a 100/40 plan, which had occasional problems but never this severe. I'm not sure if the router or connection is the problem, but I'm stuck and need advice.
Uninstalling the WiFi adapter in Device Manager resolved the issue on this laptop. Still unclear why it only worked on this network. After moving my main PC yesterday, everything functioned normally until I tried a Discord call. Videos failed to load and audio sounded distorted. In Task Manager, the connection received only a small portion of what I normally experience with this group. When I connected my phone via tethering, it returned to normal, suggesting the problem lies with the internet connection itself.
