Just making sure you wouldn't encounter the same issue. I haven't used Discord recently.

1 - Not important, it was definitely attempted initially even before uninstalling, downloading, and reinstalling, but never needed to run it with admin privileges for it to function or update properly.
2 - No, I never did it and I suspect the person asking doesn’t do it either.
3 - I’ve been using Google’s public DNS for a long time, and yes, I tried removing it when it first started, assuming it was a server connection or network issue. The person doesn’t think that was the case.
4 - The person did try, but it didn’t help. I’m not sure it would assist me either. The only thing that might be cached is the app data folder in %appdata%, which I deleted, but that’s probably not the main problem.
But honestly, it seems unlikely to be something you can consistently replicate or fix if it’s impacting both of us, especially since we’re from different countries and have the same GPU (though not the same OS—he’s on Windows 10 while I’m on 11).
Don’t misunderstand, I value trying to assist, but it’s pretty pointless if you didn’t have the problem in the first place. From what I found online and checked on Reddit yesterday, it doesn’t appear to be a widespread issue affecting many users. The only connection we share in this case is that we’re both from Israel and use the same GPU.

Well, most people who try to help with issues don't actually understand the problem. Just because you don't have it doesn't mean it can't be solved. Also, there might be several ways to fix something. If a Discord problem was linked to a specific video card, you'd expect multiple results from a search.

Year you're correct, and in the end it's not really my post at all. I just seemed to lose hope about it being fixed until the Discord update or something, and I'm using the web version now.

No issue, I recalled someone I knew experienced a similar issue where it became stuck during an update. They had to manually add an entry in their firewall to let the Discord program through. It might not be connected to your case, but this individual mentioned it happened unexpectedly one day when they tried to use it. The problem occurred after the previous day was smooth. I didn’t know what firewall or internet security software they were using, so I included that information. Cheers.

the default windows 11 firewall is working fine. i have nod32 installed for av, but it hasn't caused any conflicts with discord or other issues. it seems like a problem that only appears when the latest update was released. honestly, it just feels like something on their end. especially since that update came out. before that, all updates worked without any problems.

Hey there
@aor999 and @Leifman
I wanted to inform you both about the similar problems I'm facing with Discord. I'm running Windows 10 (version 22h2 Hebrew too) and have a GTX 2070 Super. My thought is it might be related to Bezeq's IP ranges or my location.
Edit: I've also started experiencing this issue with the newest Discord version since Friday.

Thanks for the confirmation! Nice that it's not the GPU (even though I found it really unlikely, and honestly it was pretty odd since we both had the same GPU). It's just strange that the 'for web' version works fine (though it only functions in browsers), but the app itself doesn't seem to connect to Discord servers or anything like that. I really hope they either fix it or address the issue in the next update — that's something I've never experienced before.

I came across this discussion today when I began experiencing this problem. As a Bezeq (Intl) user, I attempted to use a VPN to bypass the download update stage, which resolved the issue. After disconnecting the VPN, Discord functioned properly again.

bezeq I will not use a VPN to resolve some of their or discord's problems.
But thank you for the post, it’s good to know there is a technical solution available if one chooses to use a VPN.
Edit: I agreed after testing. I downloaded the free Proton VPN and confirmed it works. Updates are fine, and I can disconnect after applying the update. It functions properly then too. Thank you for your message—it’s definitely a 100% bezeq case.
