Hey there! The issue: Discord and Chrome often crash to desktop without any warning. I’ve attached sample dump files for both. Both logs display the error: ERROR_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0xc0000005 – the instruction at 0x%p couldn’t access memory at 0x%p. I’ve also experienced similar problems with Malwarebytes. It seems these crashes happen less frequently when I’m playing games or when apps aren’t in focus, though this is just my observation. Additionally, using the terminal in WSL 2 with Ubuntu 20.04 on the same machine via VSCode server causes segmentation faults with almost every command. When exiting the WSL terminal and returning to CMD, running `wsl --shutdown` triggers a BSOD with a Hypervisor Error. So far I’ve tried: Memtest86 passed, Windows Memory Diagnostic passed, sfc /scannow completed, Chkdsk succeeded, Malwarebytes cleared, no viruses found, apps reinstalled, XMP settings adjusted, BIOS updated, and checked for updates. Other details I remember: Intel 13900-KS, Asus Z790-E, gaming PC, RTX 4090, 32GB GSkill Trident Z@6000, 1200W PSU, Samsung power supplies, SSDs, Windows 10 Home. I’ve also attached a DxDiag file for reference. Let me know if you need more info! Thank you in advance!

Adjust Chrome's settings to turn off hardware acceleration. Additionally, execute the system file checker.

I'll give it another shot! Also, SFC has worked multiple times before. Appreciate the confirmation.

Just a short time after turning off hardware acceleration, my Discord stopped working again.

Turn off hardware acceleration, close the browser, then reopen it. Ensure it’s up to date. Look for the start date of these issues to locate any defective drivers. Adjust settings in your anti-malware tool, as it checks files in memory.

I've already handled this. Malwarebytes checked my memory and didn't find any driver updates that caused the problem. It seems there might be a driver issue rather than a hardware one. The dump files and other evidence point toward something related to drivers. Recently, I replaced my power supply because my old one failed overnight—could it have been involved? The computer functions mostly well except for these concerns, so I didn't suspect hardware failure.

Have you checked the option for Hardware Accelerated GPU scheduling? Would also consider switching Nvidia drivers to performance mode, testing it on Chrome or Discord to determine if it resolves the issue.

I mentioned that anti-malware checks everything in memory, meaning any running program will be scanned. Drivers may lead to problems and could be mistaken for hardware faults. A PSU failure might affect your SSD. You might have write caching turned on by default. Power interruptions can result in data corruption.

Both issues are resolved. Still experiencing crashes? Consider reinstalling Windows or replacing the SSD.

Begin by fixing Windows issues first. It’s likely you won’t need a full reinstall. If troubleshooting doesn’t work, restore your files before reinstalling.
