Hi, I previously set up Ubuntu as a dual boot with Windows 10 on my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro (i7, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD). Eventually, I chose to remove it due to some file problems and a lack of interest in the distribution. After deleting the Linux partitions and changing the boot order, I still noticed the Ubuntu option remained in the boot menu. When I tried to boot Manjaro from a USB, it reported an error about an unknown file system. I also read about this issue during OS uninstallation for dual boot setups with Windows 10. Now I’m wondering if anyone knows how to fix the GRUB bootloader so it boots from a USB without showing up in the menu, or how to completely remove GRUB so it doesn’t appear. I’ve already checked partitions with `ls` and tried resetting the MBR in Command Prompt, but it didn’t help much. Thanks for your understanding.

Check the device selector or boot order manager on your motherboard, then pick the USB stick. The issue with your GRUB not booting from a LiveUSB isn’t related to the zombie state. If you’re unsure how to choose the correct media, describing your hardware—especially the motherboard—could assist. I’m not familiar with laptops, so I might not be able to help further. Good luck!

You're experiencing boot issues on your Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro with an i7 processor and 8GB RAM. When you try to run Live USB, selecting the USB as the boot device triggers a grub setup.

Thanks for your feedback and effort. It seems the issue might be related to the Rufus version or the Dd imaging method. Using the latest Rufus version with Dd mode resolved the problem. Let me know if you need further assistance!

Certainly, here are some alternatives:
You may also consider using Balena Etcher instead of Rufus: https://www.balena.io/etcher/
