Disappointing ghosting and marker movement while adjusting the camera in Splitgate
Disappointing ghosting and marker movement while adjusting the camera in Splitgate
So far, I think I've covered all possible avenues. I’m confident the tests I conducted haven’t uncovered anything unique to just one game. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, since I’m not very experienced and there’s a real possibility I overlooked something—even if it seems minor.
This issue appears only in Splitgate, where the frame rate is capped at 60 FPS, apparently resolving the problem:

Previous attempts included:
• Played 10+ other titles without encountering similar problems.
• Installed various NVIDIA drivers (using DDU).
• Adjusted settings for Game, Windows, Monitor, and NVIDIA (such as g-sync, v-sync, overdrive, AA, and specific Windows configurations known to trigger issues).
• Tested ghosting at https://www.testufo.com/ghosting (overdrive off/on caused strong or weak ghosting depending on setting).
• Checked network stability via https://www.dslreports.com/speedtest (A+ scores: 500-750 download, 150-220 upload; no network problems reported).
• Ran memtest86+ for memory integrity (no errors), performed self-tests and stress tests on CPU/GPU (results normal).
• Updated BIOS to the latest release (issues persisted).
• Used Linux Pop!_OS 21.04 on a secondary drive and played the game there (same issues).
• Changed Monitor cables (still encountered problems).
• Played the game on another Monitor with different cables (consistent issues).

In you bios there should be xmp setting that's enabled. This is dual channel for you ram, if this is indeed enabled. Leave as is, there should be a xmp profile setting in the same tab if set to auto change to profile one and try this if this doesn't work try two if this doesn't solve the issue go back to profile 1 auto isn't good it will change the way the RAM runs time to time and cause it to hick up in the end
Upgrading to a high quality cable can assist, but it doesn't fully resolve the issue—it seems like a bug related to your setup. The problem might stem from a corrupted upgrade file or incorrect BIOS configuration, which isn't typical. Have you verified that all drivers are current on both the motherboard and BIOS?
Drivers need an update. The BIOS is quite outdated (early 2019 version, latest around early 2021), but the update logs didn’t show anything major, so I didn’t want to risk damaging anything unnecessarily. I attempted to uninstall Steam and Splitgate, cleared any remaining files, and reinstalled them, but it didn’t resolve the problem—possibly due to corrupted game files. I also recorded a video that more clearly illustrates the issue.
The player’s teleporting behavior is just a replay glitch; text and other elements function normally in-game. No ghosting occurs anymore. Capping my FPS at 60 nearly eliminates the problem, though at 138 FPS all 2D objects appear to wobble or lag significantly when I move the camera. Turning off the HUD makes the game run much smoother. I might consider updating the BIOS and see if that helps. I’ll also have a better cable next week, but I’m less confident now since it seems like a local issue rather than a widespread one.
Yes, I understand. There isn't an in-game setting for this. I attempted to disable it through the config file, but the command no longer functions. Updating the BIOS didn't help either. However, I did notice a slight improvement in performance. I also ran the game with "unlimited" FPS (500), which appears to yield similar results compared to capping it at 60.
Open your graphics settings in the game and adjust Post Processing and AA to low.
