I received a new MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Gaming X 8GB GDDR6 on June 10, 2022. The same day, I chose to set up Windows 11 on my brand-new SSD m.2. After turning it on, I activated fTMP and wasn’t sure what I did with CSM prior to the install—whether it was enabled or not. My USB drive was created and booted using Rufus, selecting UEFI mode without CSM. Once Windows 11 was running, I installed the chipset and GPU drivers. For most of the time, I didn’t modify any BIOS settings, so I can’t recall if CSM was active before the F60 update. On June 13, 2022, I planned to upgrade my BIOS from F50 to F60, hoping to get a new Ryzen 5600x. Everything proceeded smoothly until the next day. I wanted to boot up my PC and heard a series of beeps—first a long one, then two short ones. After Windows 11 started normally, I pressed Start and everything functioned as expected. No errors, temperatures remained stable. Google mentioned CSM in its documentation, suggesting it could be disabled. When CSM was off, the beeps appeared; when enabled, they vanished. I could easily switch CSM on to fix the issue, but it wasn’t a lasting solution. To run Windows 11 smoothly, I needed CSM off and a Resize Bar in BIOS. What options did I have? I also updated the BIOS to version F63B. I adjusted the Smart Fan Mode and set an XMP profile, but nothing else changed. My PC is on Auto with PCIe 3.0, and I don’t have a dedicated GPU. I’m using an ASUS VG248QE monitor (DP 1.2) connected via DisplayPort (1.2, 20 pins). I attempted to remove the DisplayPort cable from the GPU and tried booting again—still got the same three beeps. For two days, Fast Boot was enabled and produced no beeps at all, not even a single one. Everything worked perfectly. But on the third day, the beeps returned when I launched the PC. This happened while both the PC and monitor were running together (casual switch under the screen). Perhaps this caused a delay in booting the display. Alternatively, I tried booting the PC with CSM off while the monitor was on/off, but the same beep pattern persisted. There were no three beeps when CSM was active—just one long followed by two short. When I turned CSM off, the beeps stopped; when I restarted or waited a few minutes after closing, they reappeared. On the third day, the beeps came back right after launching the PC. This might indicate a display connection issue, especially since my monitor is an ASUS model and uses DisplayPort. I also tried launching the PC with CSM disabled while the monitor was active, but the same pattern occurred. My system runs a Ryzen 5 3600, B450m DS3H, 16GB RAM, 600W Vero M2 Bronze, and I’m using MSI RTX 3060 Ti. The motherboard supports PCIe 3.0, not the higher version my GPU requires. I’m convinced the problem lies in BIOS settings—particularly CSM. Previously, I had a GTX 970 and Windows 10; I hadn’t changed BIOS beyond Smart Fan Mode and XMP profile. I didn’t know about CSM before, so it was likely already enabled. If I disable CSM, sometimes the monitor fails to connect properly. I’ve also installed a Nvidia Update Tool for DisplayPort, but it only supports DP 1.4, not my setup. I’m wondering if enabling CSM before installing Windows 11 could have caused this issue. Probably not.
You have plenty of choices available. The "Card memory issue" didn’t cause any problems with OCCT, FurMark or 3DMark tests. What’s next?
Currently I only have DP available. I'll be ready to test it next week.
It’s unusual for the GPU to show PCI 3.0 even when connected to a PC without DP support, especially if beeps occur. The discrepancy in the GPU-Z readings suggests possible driver issues or hardware mismatch. It’s not typical, so you may need to check drivers or test with different settings.
