Disabling Hyper Threading might reduce gaming performance on some systems.
You're checking if turning off Hyper Threading boosts your gaming experience. Most games don't fully use multiple cores, so the impact might be minimal. Others have shared mixed results—some notice slight gains, others see no change. It depends on your specific hardware and game settings.
It shows almost no impact compared to my initial quick checks. (Note: He was using an i9-9900k, but hyper-threading has existed since the Pentium 4HT on socket 775. It's surprising games don't take advantage of it.)
On that particular CPU it's rare unless you mainly play games from before its release. For CPUs with more than eight cores, it could help, though it depends on the game. I successfully improved performance on a 12-core 7920X, which has more cores than most titles can handle. Turning off HT in that case lets the actual cores work more efficiently. Edit: this is the only test I conducted directly. Other informal checks I performed showed similar results.
