Did someone solve this yet? It isn't listed in uninstall programs and seems linked to the operating system. I'm not sure how to remove it without affecting my system. It's frustrating when my HDD and CPU spike during scans, and turning off live protection doesn't stop it. This is definitely Microsoft stuff—please help me get it off.

I've experienced no issues. It functions properly and scans during idle periods on my PC.

It's even worse that turning off live protection does nothing. I haven't had any problems with it yet and have been using it since Windows 8. I actually prefer it more than other antivirus programs like Avira. Edit: You can remove it. I searched for "Windows Defender" in the search bar and found the app. I clicked on it, then right-clicked and saw an uninstall option at the bottom. It looks pretty simple to do. Give it a shot.

It seems it can simply restart itself. You're informed about this right away when you attempt to turn it off again.

it doesn't cause issues for me. I simply prefer it staying steady without extra strain on my CPU or drives. Chrome offers built-in safeguards, and I'm capable of avoiding unnecessary downloads. This feature seems unnecessary and should not be mandatory on the system.

You can turn off any application, even if it's essential.

I considered this idea as well. Yesterday I added malwarebytes and discovered 19 malicious files...

this program emits a warning that this action is crucial, especially since I’m about to disable something optional. I don’t want a big crash because I turned off what should have been an optional feature.

I've never seen an MBAM scan result for any PC I've used before. I mostly use Facebook, YouTube, and Steam. No other software involved.
