Disable Windows 11 Efficiency mode permanently by adjusting system settings or using power options.
I just completed the setup of my new PC and installed the latest Windows 11 updates. I noticed my web browsers (Chrome and Edge) were both running sluggishly. Checking Task Manager revealed a new "feature" added in my previous Windows 10 system—“efficiency mode.” Regardless of whether I was using a desktop or high-performance settings, Windows 11 would automatically switch all browser processes into efficiency mode, prioritizing their resource usage. Turning this off is tricky—it only stops one process at a time and usually lifts the restriction within a minute before Windows decides to reinstate it. This has made my browsing experience feel extremely slow, like I’m using an old netbook with an Intel Atom CPU from 15 years ago. WTF Microsoft? It seems this issue originated in March 2023 and hasn’t been addressed. Are others facing the same problem? Any suggestions for registry changes to permanently disable this behavior? This machine is overpowered for media tasks, yet Chrome and Edge still lag significantly.

The browser operates as expected after installing Windows 10 on the device.
I'm not the one who started this discussion; it seems someone was prompted to turn off Efficiency Mode in Windows 11. This update, released in 22H2, can lead to problems with certain apps like Chrome and Edge. Since Windows 10 doesn't have this feature, the browsers should function properly there. Wouldn't you agree that reverting a Windows 11 installation back to Windows 10 is quite extreme?
Windows 10 includes an Eco Mode feature that functions similarly.
