i used to try turning off services in Windows 10 Pro 64-bit to see if updates would work, but group policies kept blocking them. afterward, the updates came back on automatically.

Navigate to the standard control interface, proceed to administrative options, then services section. On the services list, scroll to the "Windows Update" service, click it to open properties, modify the startup setting to disabled, and apply the changes. Restart your system; subsequent updates will be blocked. For alternative access, use classicshell and search for "control panel" to locate the non-applet interface.

I finished that after I restarted the PC, but it keeps launching from scratch. I tried going into Services and even blocked it with the firewall, yet it still connects to the internet and keeps receiving updates. I don’t want that happening again.

The most effective solution is simply avoiding Windows 10. Personally, I only use it because I’m too lazy to set up Linux on this laptop. The methods described might not work with the home version, as they seem designed to push security updates. This is why many people dislike Windows 10.

It seems like you're talking about improving performance by playing more games and using the same settings as Windows 7. Let me know if you'd like help with that!

You're not in control of what you install. It's time to start with Windows 10.
