You can disable the backlight without powering down by using a switch or relay connected to the power supply. There are also software methods to mute the light while keeping the PC running. If you need to remove the port, you could cut or solder it, though that may affect functionality.

No. Why so extreme? You might break the NIC altogether. Think simple: cover up the LEDs with black electrical tape. Done! And guess what?! It’s reversible.

Did you turn off any wake-on-LAN features in BIOS? The network card might stay active if there are options to power on the PC remotely. It’s possible to silence the LEDs by adjusting the BIOS, though it could be complex and beyond my expertise. You might remove power from the LEDs at the connector, but this would involve hardware modifications (like taking out resistors or cutting traces on the motherboard). You could also cover the LEDs with a black marker pen or some black electrical tape.
