I'm changing my motherboard CPU and memory setup. The CPU cooler was too close to the first DIMM slot, making it hard to install the RAM properly. I can't boot with my second stick in. Can I turn off the first DIMM slot so I can use my second stick and run 16GB instead of just 8? I don’t have much money for a better cooler right now.
Usually you should pick the two lighter slots first. This is the first time I've heard about a stock cooler affecting RAM slots. Could you provide an image?
I'll send a photo during my lunch break. I expected the same. I attempted to use the lighter channels but didn't post unless I switched to the darker ones.

I don't want to scratch the outer layer of the cooler since that's what's causing the issue. I've reset the CMOS and checked the RAM in grey slots (the recommendation from ASUS is the standard). The amber light display is the only thing you see with RAM in A_2 and B_2.
I've attempted it with just a single RAM stick in both configurations.
You need to use the first and third slots (gray) with just two sticks. If the problem persists, it may not be related to the BIOS. X570 typically supports Ryzen 3XXX by default, so the issue might be elsewhere. Do you have another RAM model to test? What motherboard did you use? Was it an AM4 socket? This can help confirm if the CPU is functioning properly. Is the power supply unit known to work?
The previous setup was using the AMD FX line with DDR3 memory. When I placed the machine in the B_1 slot (testing both sticks), it started up and booted without issues. All known parts functioned properly. I used the latest configuration to run games, work, and edit yesterday with just a single RAM stick.
It might be a faulty RAM module, a defective PCIe slot, or a problem with the CPU memory controller. If you replace the sticks, will the system boot up using either one installed in any slot?
