This might relate to a driver problem, though Windows seems indifferent about audio overall. The main concern for me is this issue with my Artist 24 Pro and the audio interface. It’s constantly switching between them, causing audio drops and confusion. All sound devices are turned off in the sound settings, even though the device still tries. The Nvidia panel reports the monitor can’t handle audio either. I’m considering removing the audio driver completely to test. Right now I can’t work with audio, but a reboot seems to resolve it. It appears something triggers the problem, though I’m not sure what. Edit: Disabling all audio devices in the device manager seems like a possible fix.

So I'm here, likely like others before me... I looked up issues with external USB microphones and speakers/headphones. My audio worked fine with speakers or headphones until I connected my mic. I was stuck trying to solve it when I tried something simple. I checked if the devices were recognized by opening Device Manager (press Start + Press F). Then I went to Sound, video, and game controllers. I disabled one of the sound outputs—either speakers or headphones—by right-clicking and selecting disable. Suddenly, everything worked again. It stopped the system from changing my default settings. Hope this helps anyone facing the same troubles!
