I understand it's possible with third-party firmware such as DD-WRT or OpenWRT, but a regular consumer router with default firmware usually won't support it. It might require some workarounds, which is why many prefer PiHole for this purpose. Alternatively, using a PC running pfSense or OPNsense could be more straightforward and cost-effective. If you're on a PC, updating the local hosts file regularly is likely simpler and cheaper.
