This situation seems confusing. You're experiencing poor performance when playing games with friends using Peer to Peer connections. Despite having a fast home network, latency spikes occur even though you're on the same network. It might be related to how your devices are configured or routed, possibly due to NAT settings or ISP adjustments. Checking your router settings and ensuring proper peer-to-peer configuration could help resolve the issue.
Actually, I hadn't thought of Cross Platform Servers that way, now that you bring it up. It's odd that Peer to Peer uses Xbox Services even then, since logically it should connect directly to me or whoever has the best link. Probably the issue is that Cross Platform keeps the game routing through servers and then to Peer to Peer. Damn, that's frustrating. Outriders seemed to be the main problem. We were planning to switch to Destiny 2, but I found out it also uses Peer to Peer connections except for Events, which are server-side. So we might face the same problems again.
