So this is Taco Jr.: Spoiler Taco Jr. doesn't have a PCPartPicker list, because most of his stuff is so old that it doesn't exist there. Basic rundown: Pentium 4 540 ASUS P4S800-MX Socket 478 board 2GB DDR PC3200 RAM NVIDIA GeForce 210 (PCI slot) A bunch of other crap Windows XP/Xubuntu dual boot A kickass red LED fan that is never coming out again because I stripped the crap out of a screw installing it It was a free system, ok? I moved it into a case I had lying around, installed some better/working parts that I had, dropped $8 on the RAM and might drop $3 on a higher clocked Pentium 4 over the weekend. When I'm out, I'll be raiding the shelves of Goodwill looking for old-school games. I know they have loads of them. I'll be looking for my own old stack of games. This PC was picked up because it was free and kept because the specs loosely remind me of my college PC, Taco Grande. In addition to the games I'm going to pick up physical copies of, are there any good games on Steam that would run well on this setup? I know I can just play anything from Steam on any of the more powerful PCs around my house, but Taco Jr. exists for a reason, and that reason is vintage games. And eventually a tax writeoff. But mostly vintage games.
It could be a stretch, but I'm curious if Portal would be available. It runs on my 7-year-old MacBook...
I considered Portal actually. It's on my plan to test. I’m sure the 210 will be a bigger hurdle for me than the P4, and I’m surprised I’m making that statement. Still, I already have KOTOR on my Steam account, so maybe I’ll give it a shot.
Some of my top picks for older games that work well on the GT 210 include GTA San Andreas, Vice City, NFS Undergound 1 & 2, and Tomb Raider Legend.
