Hello,
I recently purchased two additional RAM sticks, but I was aware the timings were incorrect. I thought it wouldn’t be that significant for compatibility. The issue arises because when I set the BIOS to 1333 MHz it functions properly, but with the XPM profile at 1600 MHz the problem emerges. I can boot normally in Windows, work within 1600 MHz, but when launching programs that need RAM—like Prime95 or games—I get a blue screen and reboot. Memtest passed without errors, indicating the RAM is working correctly. I attempted to adjust timings in BIOS, but it still doesn’t resolve the problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My specs:
Asus P8Z77-V LX2
i5 3570K
Adata 2x2GB sticks gaming series
Kingston HyperX 2x4GB

Never install two distinct RAM speeds together. It’s usually wise to use identical models to ensure compatibility and avoid performance issues. While mixing various speeds and brands is technically feasible, the system will always prioritize the slower speed. Therefore, pairing a 2400 MHz stick with a 1600 MHz one means both will operate at the lower speed (1600 MHz), maintaining consistent timing. It’s a good thing it functions this way.

Attempting manual settings of 1600, 9-9-9-27, 1.55 with various XMP profiles on different drives causes confusion in the BIOS.

in bios i only have one xmp or manual setting. the issue is that they function separately at 1600mhz but combine properly when i run a ram-intensive program at that frequency. i assume it should work at 1600mhz, but i need to adjust the timing settings carefully, which i don’t understand well. at that moment i have an xmp profile set with 9-9-9-27 1.65v, but i manually changed it to 1333mhz and 1.5v, which works fine. if i skip the xmp profile it still operates normally. however, when i switch to 1600mhz it restarts after launching games. since i’m not sure about the timing, i looked up a lot and found that people use different timing settings for ram at different frequencies.
