I placed the second stick in a single channel and Windows reported I had only 8GB of storage. Could be the faulty device?

I missed that time and used a single stick for dual channel with the 8GB unit. Everything seems okay so far. https://imgur.com/a/Yrjx0ot

Earlier mentioned that you're attempting to utilize three RAM sticks in a dual-channel setup. You should aim for two or four sticks.

I believed three sticks would suffice, I won't invest more in drr3 RAM, I'll save some funds and purchase a different machine, thanks.

Ensure it's configured for single-channel in BIOS/UEFI, and it will function at that speed.
