Did your girlfriend's graphics card stop working after a game crashed?
Constructed a machine for my partner, and initially everything functioned smoothly for a while. She went to college, played Overwatch, and then the device stopped working. After restarting, the GPU disappeared from Device Manager and appeared disconnected. Using DDU didn’t help; it kept showing up as not connected. I’m considering replacing it with my existing setup to check if it’s damaged. Should I be ready for the worst?
I reached this understanding on my own. I checked the GPU in my setup and everything functions properly. When I placed it in a bottom X16 slot, it still didn’t work. I suspect the PCIe connectors are the issue. Do you have any suggestions to resolve this? Is there a method to troubleshoot before assuming the entire PCIe bus is faulty?
Check your GPU in the system and test compatibility with your setup. You've explored one method now, let's try another.
I should have mentioned that earlier. I completed the task by installing the GPU on her system with both PCIe slots, then installed it in my build, and it functioned correctly. Everything was resolved.
It looks like the CPU might be malfunctioning, though that’s rare—consider checking for bent or broken pins first. Alternatively, the motherboard could be faulty and should be returned via RMA or swapped out.
