I'm just starting this process of repasting my laptop for the first time. I purchased a PTM 7950 thermal pad from AliExpress. I need advice on whether I've properly cleaned both the GPU and CPU, based on the photos you shared. Could you suggest ways to improve the cleaning? I own a Legion 5 Pro 2022 with an AMD 6800H CPU and a Nvidia 3060 GPU (version 16A7H). Please let me know your thoughts.

It should be okay. What are the readings on the CPU? Where did you obtain the 90% Ethanol from? You’re producing your own still for moonshine at 90% (180 proof)—that’s nearly as pure as ethanol can be, which makes it a controlled substance in the U.S. and quite difficult to acquire.

Hi, the marks look like scratches. It seems they weren’t made today, possibly from earlier. The alcohol I bought from a pharmacy is sold there normally (not locally). I also found that 70% might be better, but I looked up and saw 90% works when isopropyl isn’t available. I don’t know what moonshine means.

Moonshine refers to unregulated, high-proof alcoholic beverages made from fermented plant materials.

I would wipe more thoroughly. Use a microfiber cloth to remove the final thermal paste. Have you taken off the remaining liquid metal from the CPU? (Unless it’s just a shiny layer) It seems like you’ve likely reassembled it again.
