Did you mean to run a 64-bit operating system on a 32-bit machine?
Hi everyone, I set up Windows 7 64-bit on a 5-6 year old computer without checking the hardware details. It initially worked perfectly for about two months. Then the user began experiencing issues with the PC failing to power on and took it to a repair shop. They claimed the motherboard was damaged because the system ran a 64-bit OS on a 32-bit board, which simply couldn't handle it. I was surprised since I always believed CPU issues were more likely than hardware problems. I don’t have the CPU model or type, but if it’s a 64-bit processor—probably an Intel dual-core—then compatibility with a 32-bit board should be fine. It seems like the repair shop might have misunderstood the situation. I’m concerned about how such a service operates and feel a bit embarrassed because my friend might think I caused the problem.
And the motherboard doesn't mind whether it's a 64-bit version of Windows.
It looks like you're suggesting avoiding that business altogether.
