I recently put in my i9 14900k into my ASUS PRIME Z690P Wi-Fi and saw one of the AIO screws wasn’t fully seated. After adjusting its position, all four came out correctly. But the computer won’t boot anymore. The fan spins, the case fans light up, and everything else works fine except the keyboard—displays are off and the power indicator is flashing quickly. The manual mentions a RAM problem, but I’m certain it’s not RAM since I didn’t touch it. After removing the AIO, I found the spot where I was having trouble; the traces there look damaged. Should I go ahead and replace the whole board?
The BIOS was upgraded to the newest release prior to installing the CPU since I had an old i7 12700F available. Additionally, I reinstalled my previous CPU and the same issue occurred again.
Try the 2nd channel Should still work as those screwed traces look like they belong to the 1st channel I also borked a ram channel on my soyo h61 due to ziptieing a cooler and accidentally cutting traces with a razor while cutting the ends of the zipties which happened to be the 2nd channel so as long as theres no stick in the 2nd channel the board posts
Great! It seems to function now. Of course, I’ve lost the dual channel, but at least my PC is running smoothly for a week before I swap it out for a new Z790.
