I possess an outdated Dell XPS laptop that appears to face startup problems. My suspicion is that the motherboard might be faulty. However, I managed to boot into Windows in one of the first 100 attempts. I created a clone of the disk using the V2HD software and saved it as a .VHD file. I was able to launch the disk on another machine via VirtualBox. Some applications are installed, including software I invested in several years ago that are crucial for me. When attempting to open these programs inside the VM, the application appears as asjs for product registration. The original program functions correctly on my main computer. Is there a solution to resolve this? I’ve read that enabling SMBIOS might help, but it seems to be already set to true. I own the license for six of these programs and have received assistance from the company to renew the key registration when purchasing a new machine. However, they now restrict purchases to private individuals and no longer allow sales to schools or large corporations. I submitted my receipt of licenses (which cost a lot) from Simutech Multimedia, but they were ignored. Can anyone suggest a workaround so I can run the software I own the rights to?

That's copy protection/anti-piracy, the app knows that the hardware changed so it want's a new license to start.

I also realized that. Yet I hadn't imagined myself in a scenario requiring me to unlock a key registration on software I already own a license for.

It's probably because the hard drive serial number has shifted with the VM, causing the hardware change error. We encounter this problem at work when relocating the VM running our Rockwell software to a new server. You'll need to locate the original hard drive's serial number on the old machine and then update the VM's hard drive accordingly. Google can help you with that.
