Did the undervolting fix your issue, or was it due to a faulty GPU or PSU?
Hello there, I previously shared this issue in the forum seeking solutions.
I've made numerous attempts to resolve the black screen while gaming, which causes flickering and then a PC restart.
I've tested various drivers, used DDU multiple times, purchased a GPU holder due to sagging, updated the motherboard BIOS, and disabled the resize bar—still no success.
Recently, I discovered a method to reproduce the problem.
On MSI Afterburner, I reset all settings to defaults and ran 3dmark on Timespy. During the first or second GPU test, I noticed screen flickers and then the issue occurred. This seems to happen when the GPU is draining around 350 watts.
If I lower the GPU voltage to a fixed 875mV at 1890MHz, there are no problems during the benchmark.
Why am I asking this question?
I believe I'm not utilizing my system's full capacity and want to replace the faulty component. I'm unsure whether the problem lies with the GPU or the power supply. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
My GPU: Inno3d RTX 3090Ti
My PSU: Gigabyte P1000gm 1000W Plus Gold
Thank you all for your time and any assistance you can offer!
In order to rule out your PSU being the root of the issue, source another unit that's higher in wattage and higher in quality, to see if the issue persists without an undervolt. If the issue is gone, then it's your PSU. You forgot to mention the make and model of your case, the orientation and number of fans and the ambient room air temps not to mention the temps of your GPU.
Hi
@Lutfij
Your message was received, I didn't include temperatures since they seemed normal during the tests, about 60~70ºC. I plan to replace the PSU and recheck it, do you think this one is adequate? Which model would you suggest?
Thanks a lot!

I forgot to note in the main post that the GPU had already gone through a month of RMA process, moving from the shop to the factory. I have proof of the courier receipt. Although I’m not completely sure what tests they performed, they said the GPU was fine and didn’t find any problems. Could this mean PSU is the real issue? Thank you!
use occt to run stress tests on psu and hwinfo for detailed voltage data including temperature and fan speed on the system on sensor page.
Just wanted to let you know the issue is resolved.
I can no longer reproduce the problems I encountered with 3dmark without undervolt.
Reset the master GPU settings in MSI Afterburner, ran the 3dmark timespy and now it works continuously—no screen flickers, no black screens, no restarts.
The board drains around 450w at times without any problems.
The real issue was a faulty PSU that couldn't manage the power spikes (it seems so).
Fixed with a new PSU.
Thanks everyone!
It could be a component or driver incompatibility issue. If true, it would be extremely difficult to recreate the problem on a test bench because the GPU isn't the source of the fault. Additionally, it's unclear whether you included the PCIe cable when submitting the return merchandise authorization request.
