Did the mouse disconnect whenever I tried to move it?
This issue started a few months back, and my mouse keeps disconnecting whenever I move it. Sometimes even a slight flick causes it to disconnect multiple times. It’s frustrating, but there’s something interesting—if I force it to disconnect several times (around 100-150), it continues to disconnect, though for a short period of 1 to 3 hours.
I’ve tested the same mouse on different computers and it works fine, so it’s not the hardware. I also tried using USB from Windows and still faced the problem. My PS4/Xbox controller doesn’t disconnect at all, which makes this issue even more puzzling. I’ve checked every port on my motherboard, but nothing seems to help.
I’m really trying to fix this as soon as possible because it’s been a long time since I started using it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer! Please note the make and model of your mouse. It would also be helpful to share the specifications of your current system, such as: CPU, CPU cooler, motherboard, RAM, SSD/HDD, GPU, PSU, chassis, OS, monitor. Include the age of the power supply unit along with its make and model. At this time, you should also check if reinstalling your chipset and USB drivers in an elevated command helps resolve the problem, especially if you're using Windows.
There is a mouse issue on the PC, though the current one is a Roccat Burst Pro. The system runs a Ryzen 5 1600 with default cooler, Steel Legends B450m board, 16gb dual channel RAM, a 1Tb Barracuda HDD, and an Rx 580 GPU. The PSU is a Gigabyte 700W unit. BIOS is up to date at version 4.60. For reinstalling, I just reformatted Windows using a flash drive today. To reinstall the chipset and USB drivers, what steps should I follow?
Yes. Also, if it's any mouse then it's probably
chipset drivers
or Windows issues, but still do it anyways. Do other devices work in those USB ports? I'm assuming you have a USB keyboard, so yes. I'm sure you've double checked that there isn't any manufacturer-specific software or drivers for your mouse?
Other devices function too, though I remember the keyboard sometimes disconnecting for extended times. It has stopped working for a while now. I can look into Roccat’s software to see if there are any adjustments possible.

Hello once more! I just updated the chipset drivers too, but the issue persists! The BIOS was also updated. Recently, I fully formatted Windows using a flash drive, and I want to mention that this problem initially appeared with my Viper Mini. After switching the mouse, it almost never disconnected for two months, but then it started happening again, becoming more frequent over time.
Do your PS4 and Xbox controllers use wired or wireless connections? Perhaps start by booting Ubuntu with a live USB to eliminate driver problems, though I’m skeptical it will help right now. If you’re encountering issues with all USB devices, it might point to a hardware problem involving the motherboard chipset or CPU, which tends to occur more unpredictably—especially after certain software updates or events.
If I were present, I’d attempt to run a debugger on the mouse driver to check for data transmission or corruption. I’d also try reseating the CPU and inspecting the pins for any damage. Are there any differences in your setup compared to a PC that works with these devices?
