Hello everyone,

I’m facing an unusual issue that I’ve never encountered before. Let’s start from the beginning:

I own an Asus Strix x299 E-Gaming motherboard, but it no longer has a PCI slot. To work around this, I purchased a PCI Express RISER card to connect my old TV tuner. The tuner is named TT-Budget C1501 DVB-C.

The problem arose when I installed the riser in the PCI-E slot, connected auxiliary MOLEX power, and checked Device Manager. It reported that everything was working fine—no errors or issues. However, when scanning for a cable, no channel appeared. The PAT was set to RED, and the 0 channel was found. I’m puzzled as to why this happens and what’s causing it.

I verified the TV cable on another TV, and the signal was normal; the cable itself seemed fine. It’s possible the riser card isn’t compatible with my tuner or there’s a hidden issue. This is strange because Device Manager confirmed everything was operational.

My tuner also works perfectly, even when tested on another PC with a PCI slot. I’ve never seen such an odd problem before. Someone could offer guidance—I’m really confused and feel a bit lost.

I tried the full DVB version and the demo version without DVB, and the results matched.

I’m seeking advice. This situation is frustrating, and I’m not sure how to resolve it. Thank you for your help!

If it resembles what occurred with US TV tuners, they now lack drivers for the PCI versions compatible with older computers and operating systems. PCI adapters differ widely, which means outcomes will also vary. Technotrend produces PCIe tuners, making it a worthwhile option to explore.

when i removed the card from the slot, i noticed the yellow cable was broken. i tried gluing it back and it now works fine. the yellow cable is +12V. all four wires seem to be very weak, and they were poorly glued during manufacturing.
