Hello everyone! I've been searching and didn't find a thread that matched my question precisely. If a thread exists, I apologize. Yesterday my computer failed to boot and the VGA debug light was flashing. Here are my system details: MSI Tomahawk B450 Ryzen 5 2500 (stock cooler), MSI RX580 Gaming X 16 GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 800W, Corsair PSU, 125GB Samsung M.2 boot drive, 2TB Seagate HDDs for storage.
I've tried several troubleshooting steps: re-seated the GPU, used an RX560 in both slots, changed the power cable and port, swapped the power cord with another one, reset the RAM, cleared CMOS and repeated all steps. I also tried using an older NVIDIA GPU without extra power, and inserted my RX580 into another HP Slimline to check for video output.
For every step except the final one, I got no video output and the VGA light stayed solid red. When I used the RX580 in another system, I had to use its 8-pin power adapter. The only result was booting on the old Intel system in the Slimline, which suggests the problem isn't with the GPU but possibly the motherboard.
This seems to point toward a motherboard issue rather than a CPU problem, since the CPU debug light was on. I wasn't sure if a CPU fault existed, but it makes sense now. Have I missed any steps? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
