It seems the design is smooth and stable, with no visible flex in the socket. Both the CPU and socket appear neat without any bending or movement.
I was expecting an AMD chip before diving in. This has happened many times before. As long as the pins stay intact (which I haven’t experienced), everything should be okay. Just make sure to lift the lever before installing another CPU. We often tease them as ZIF sockets because they require no force to insert... but you’ll need to remove them carefully.
You mentioned updating the BIOS and installing a new CPU. The next step is to power off your motherboard for 5 minutes. If it has a clear CMOS button, hold it down for 20 seconds while the power cord is unplugged. Then reinstall the CPU and check if the CMOS appears correctly. Good luck!
It might be confusing, but I figured someone else might have the same doubt. When the retention arm is fully down, does the CPU stay firmly in the socket or just sit on top? I remember some of my older Gigabyte and ASUS boards needed me to push or wiggle the CPU before lowering it to lock it in. In short, are you sure the CPU is properly secured? Also, check if the GPU works—could something have shifted during the swap.
You simply insert it, perform a wiggle, then touch the CPU and move the lever down.
It was a poor mobile. I changed the model to b450f and it worked.
I also damaged my cooler with the cooler, but everything kept running fine. If you plan to take it out, try using prime95 or another demanding program and let it heat up significantly beforehand. This should help break down the thermal paste as it warms. For my AIO, I turned off the fans and cut power to the pump, ran prime95 until it crashed, then removed the cooler easily. You don't need to do that—just let it get hot.
