Diagnose Ryzen 5600X and Asus ROG B550-F with Wi-Fi motherboard issues. Red CPU LED activated during startup.
Hello, thank you for reaching out. I upgraded my CPU and motherboard as recommended, and everything seems to be functioning properly. The motherboard now lights up with a red LED indicating the CPU status. My system doesn’t boot up, and no information appears on the screen despite trying various GPUs. RAM and RGB are all active, and fans are running smoothly. I’ve checked online resources but haven’t found a solution yet. So far, I’ve confirmed the RAM isn’t the issue, re-seated the CPU, verified connections, cleared CMOS by removing the battery briefly, and updated the BIOS to the latest version. The lights indicated success during the process. Let me know if you need further guidance!
The CPU power plug is located on the motherboard, typically near the CPU socket area.
Ensure both the 24-pin and 8-pin connectors are connected to the motherboard. Remove them, reinsert, and verify a solid link.
Oh wow... Setting up a PC can be really stressful. Have you finished updating the BIOS with the flashback method? That means you’ve completed the update until the new motherboard BIOS is properly installed. If possible, use a 3rd generation AMD Ryzen CPU and try booting it. If it loads correctly, the BIOS might not be compatible with your 5000 Series CPU. If it still won’t start, the issue could be with the motherboard itself. Also, verify the BIOS version you have installed—if it supports the Ryzen 5000 series, there might be a CPU problem. In that case, consider using a different motherboard. If none of these work, you may need to file a warranty claim or request a refund.
Occasionally it happens. I updated the bios correctly, though I can't verify it since I don’t have a display. I’m not using a third-gen CPU because I’m replacing both the CPU and motherboard. I returned the old CPU yesterday and got a new one today, but it didn’t work. Now I’m considering the motherboard might be faulty. Since I can’t try another board, I think reaching out to Asus support would be a good idea.
I'm facing the same issue, do you have any ideas on how to fix it?
Sure, I can try to help. Could you provide more details about the issue you're facing?
I believe you're experiencing the same problem... My computer is around two years old and has been functioning well until now. Suddenly it starts failing to boot, with the CPU red light illuminating. All internal parts turn on except the keyboard. When the keyboard doesn't light up, I know the red light is active. After trying to reset by disconnecting power and holding the power button, sometimes it works after a few attempts, other times it takes much longer. Once it boots, everything seems normal. I've been putting it to sleep instead of shutting it down. This helps avoid the issue. However, if I need to restart or turn it off, the red CPU light comes on. I haven't updated the BIOS in about a year, but nothing has changed, so I'm unsure if an update is necessary. Anyone have any advice? Thanks.
