Diagnose PC issues that sporadically block posting – really frustrating.
I assembled the PC in December. The issue began roughly four months ago and has grown more frequent recently. Without any apparent cause, when the system powers on, it fails to boot properly. Instead of lights, the board turns on silently while fans spin at an unusually high speed. It never reaches a stable state, stopping completely until it shuts down. In contrast, during normal operation, the board briefly increases fan speed before settling into full POST with video output. I’m puzzled by this behavior—how can it run for weeks only to suddenly stop? Only by disconnecting the power supply and leaving it for a while does it start again. After a full rebuild last week, including reseating CPU and RAM, the machine still works. My next move is reinstalling Windows, but I’m unsure if that will help since I didn’t expect software issues before POST. Any suggestions?
