Your PC kept showing an MBR Error 1 every time you turned it on. It happened for months, so you’d just power it off, switch the power supply on, wait a bit, then turn it back on. It worked fine until the weekend. Then you tried resetting the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery, but after that your system wouldn’t power up at all—no display, no lights, no fans. Since you didn’t have any idle lights on the motherboard, you thought it was the power supply. You replaced it with another known working one, but it didn’t fix the problem. I’m trying to figure out what’s wrong and how to solve it. Any suggestions would be great!

Hi, here are the details about your hardware. You mentioned switching another PSU but still experiencing no power. Please verify everything carefully—ensure all connections are secure and that the power cable fits properly. Also, confirm if you've used a different wall socket lead.

I confirmed all pins are seated properly. I also switched to a different socket in another room, but the PC still wouldn't power on. Changing the GPU didn't help either.

Motherboard model: MPG z390 gaming with a CPU of 17 9700k. Graphics card: RTX 3060, RAM: 2x8 sticks included during the initial build a few years back. All other components, except RAM, CPU fan, and system fans, have been upgraded since the machine was purchased.

Mobo might not be around anymore. That's what I'm feeling. It would help if someone could try another mobo to test all your components.

I believe it's likely gone, so I'll try using the old one instead.

Don't think it's bad. You might want to check for any signs. Occasionally a reset can solve an issue. If that fails, take out the CMOS battery, connect the reset pins together and short them for 30 seconds, then put the battery back.

Do you power up the PC first before reinserting the battery, or is there another step? Also, I’m not sure about the remount process. The case looks damaged and it seems hard to fit all the motherboard holes.

Make sure the battery is not reinserted yet. That doesn’t look right, is it aligned properly?
