Diagnose GPU issues and find solutions.
I'm facing an issue with my PC that seems linked to my GPU. Around the time Diablo 4 was released, I started experiencing black screens while both fans ran extremely loudly. Restarting manually resolves the problem. No error messages appear. It's happening across multiple games, not just Diablo 4. I've tried updating the GPU drivers, but it seems to make things worse. The second monitor disconnection doesn't help, and adjusting graphics settings has no effect. I'm checking temperatures and using MSI After Burner monitoring, but it doesn't provide clearer insights. I'm unsure what to do next. Could you help me understand this better? Thanks, Aku

Monitor GPU temperatures and voltages during gameplay. High heat or core throttling might indicate overheating or excessive clock speeds. A 3080 processor can get hot, so consider adjusting settings with tools like Afterburner to prevent damage.
this is a dumb question but what's the psu situation in your system? cause i have hardware that's a lot worse than yours but used to run into a similar problem. i'd play a game and i think the card would have a power spike or something but it'd be a black screen, completely unresponsive pc and gpu fans would go crazy. but i was hooking up a 150W card to a 295W PSU via a SATA Power to PCIe adapter so i kinda expected it.
Completely remove all graphics drivers using DUDE and restart the official site.
Some GPUs in Diablo 4 have an issue that affects cards, possibly causing harm. It might be possible your card was impacted—try testing it elsewhere. Confirm your warranty status and consider filing a return request if necessary.
Thanks to everyone who responded to my message. PSU is a 700w unit; I updated my BIOS this morning to see if it would make a difference. I’ll go back if anything changes. I’ve undervolted my card over the past year in an attempt to lower temperatures. In South Africa, summer heat is intense, so reducing temps was necessary. Below is a screenshot of the after-burner window—honestly, I had no prior knowledge and followed a YouTube video. Now I’m testing it again. I’ll revert if there are any differences. I’ve been aware of this for some time, and I really hope it’s not my issue. Appreciate all the feedback!
Starting right after Baldur's Gate, the crash occurred. I'm unsure if I should upload the hardwaremonitor.html file from Afterburner or share a screenshot of the recording. The graphs don't show any spikes during the crash—just a drop to zero across all metrics. PS: I made sure undervolting was turned off when I restarted.
Undervolt can generate income through certain games. I experienced crashes in Unity projects, particularly with a low-voltage 3080, even though its clock speed was normal. Dropping it might help resolve the issue.
