Hi, I purchased this used build. Assemble everything. Overclocked to 4.8 with 1.415vcore. It ran smoothly for about an hour. Temperatures stayed under 85°C. After shutdown, waited a few hours before powering it back on. Now it hangs after restart. Used q-code 99 or A2. Replaced my GPU, removed it and tried booting with integrated graphics. Tested both RAM sticks. Reseated all cables and connections. Switched to a 1200w PSU and applied new cooling paste. Tried booting in both internal and external GPUs, each RAM stick separately. Cleared CMOS multiple times. Still stuck on q-code 99 (or A2) with monitor signal. Any suggestions?
Here are some alternative phrasings:
1. Your overclock might not be as reliable as you assumed. Would it help to power down the BIOS and use a standard button or pin short?
2. Used items usually have a purpose—sometimes simple, sometimes hidden. It’s possible this board has a damaged solder joint and only functions properly when warm. “Is flaky” is a common excuse to replace something before it fails completely.
3. Q codes differ depending on the CPU and chipset. A4 used to refer to SCSI usage; you might not even have SCSI installed. You may need to check your board and CPU for specific details.
I reset the BIOS to its default settings, including the old method of removing the battery.
Also considering that possibility.
It seems there could be an issue with the IO chip not responding; the A2 indicates IDE initialization, but I'm not sure how important that is.
