Absolutely essential, really. Without the RoS it's not D3!

I already ordered the D3(collectors) version, but it didn’t meet expectations when it launched, and even after several updates, it still felt like a poor value. I went for the expansion just because of its Diablo appeal. If you plan to play D3, definitely get the expansion—it’s a necessity.

I received the RoS SE instead of the DELUXE, and it cost $50 for both D3 and RoS SE!

the collectors for d3 were $100 on their own and ros added another $40. i was really frustrated at first seeing how bad the game looked without the expansion, but now it feels a bit better. it’s still not as good as d2:loD, which i keep playing, but i doubt anything will ever match it.
