I own D2, LOD, D3 on PC and ROS on Xbox One. Sorry if I'm making mistakes—I'm trying to figure this out. I think Reaper of Souls performed better on the console than D3 did on PC. D2 was the top choice, though I miss the trading and auction house features from D3.

The expansion is essentially the main method to enjoy Diablo 3 right now. They’re also planning a significant content update soon, which will alter the adventure mode and season 3 leaderboards will close with season 4 launching shortly.

I purchased the vanilla version and finished a playthrough, but once I looked further, it became clear that the expansion is essential to unlock the game's full capabilities.
