Haha, everything seems fine. You were correct about the /31 not being in the original spec—it actually emerged with RFC 3021 around late 2000 and took some time to put into practice. There’s a more recent standard for unnumbered IP addresses on Ethernet links, using a /32 by pulling from a single loopback. I think the RFC was first mentioned in 5309 around 2008 for broader use beyond MPLS networks. I’m familiar with it now that unnumbered links are accepted, especially since I’m validating this as part of a VxLAN project. It’s definitely more recent than relying on /31, though.

Interesting, I haven't seen native Ethernet with /32 used much—PPPoE and other point-to-point solutions seem more common. I'll need to explore that. I've been aware of the /31 transition, so it wasn't my main concern; it just popped into my head while I was thinking about /32.
