tried it directly on the Realtek site. the gigabyte installer failed anyway—it loads, then vanishes and the driver version stays unchanged. even running as admin didn’t fix it. I installed the Realtek driver myself; it works now. However, I still see a 169.254 IP address, indicating a DHCP error. I cleared the DNS and DHCP cache on my router, performed a system flush, but nothing changed. If you need the correct driver, I’d prefer that, but I also want a functional LAN connection.

It seems odd since a generic driver should function beyond just USB versions, especially with an available USB Ethernet standard. I didn’t realize the generic driver was limited to USB only.

I reinstalled the driver and tried various things, and it works fine with the generic 2.5Gb gaming driver. However, right after starting, a virtual drive appears asking for additional drivers, which disappears instantly. I connect the device, disconnect it, and hear the Windows sound repeatedly—this is really frustrating.
