DHCP issue affecting all network adapters
DHCP issue affecting all network adapters
Hello, I hope someone has encountered a similar problem and can offer solutions. I’m an admin at a small company, and this issue has already affected two of our machines—this time on my own device. Rather than reinstalling, I’d like to investigate the problem and find a fix, since it seems time-sensitive before others might face the same. The main concern is that DHCP on my device stopped working, preventing it from getting an IP address automatically. This occurs both over WiFi (three different networks tried, including a phone hotspot with DHCP enabled) and via Ethernet. No IP address is being assigned. Using a static IP resolves the issue, but that doesn’t fully solve it. I’ve tried various steps—restarting, power cycling, using the Windows Troubleshooter, updating drivers, running netsh winsock reset, and even using Lenovo software. The ipconfig /release and /renew commands failed with an error about the DHCP server. The DHCP client service stopped because of insufficient privileges, possibly due to security software interfering. Both PCs run Windows 10 Enterprise 22H2 with the latest updates, and are Lenovo T14 models. Any suggestions or resources to diagnose this would be greatly appreciated.
