09-09-2019, 12:10 AM #1I own two monitors and a TV, with one monitor as an extension. Sometimes when the PC powers down and all screens go dark, moving the mouse to wake it up causes the monitors to illuminate with backlight but remain black until I turn the TV back on. Then both displays show images. This is confusing and frustrating, especially since I leave my PC on frequently and want the TV off unless necessary. I’m particularly concerned about the OLED TV—don’t you mind if it gets damaged by prolonged display time? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

09-15-2019, 02:52 AM #4CEC refers to the capability of connecting devices via displayport or HDMI. The issue you mentioned seems resolved after updating a graphics driver, though it persisted afterward. Thank you for your feedback.
CEC is Consumer Electronics Control, enabling certain gadgets to command the TV to power up, like a streaming device such as Roku. However, given your monitors are DP and the TV uses HDMI, it seems @emosun is likely correct. @GeorgioC I think an update in the newer driver might have changed how the GPU sends signals—possibly through a BIOS flash for the GPU itself. It could be feasible to restore the GPU BIOS to an earlier version that didn’t have this problem. Edited September 15, 2022 by An0maly_76 Updated with more details

09-20-2019, 12:37 AM #6Thanks for the response, it seems plausible. Unfortunately, I’m not sure or interested in exploring GPU BIOS re-flashing, so I’ll have to manage this on my own. Hopefully it gets fixed in an upcoming update.

09-21-2019, 11:35 PM #8It's tough to pinpoint the problem without understanding the previous software setup. I'm puzzled it kept its configurations and only recently stopped doing so.
Besides these adjustments, the main alternatives would involve turning off sleep, shutting down HDDs after 30 minutes, keeping the screen always on, and using a blank screen saver to avoid burn-in. It’s unclear if GPUs can transmit a CEC power-on command, which might be worth exploring further. If your screensavers aren’t functioning (like mine stopping suddenly), you could test the blank black loop videos I made for this issue. The player needs to be configured to loop these files properly. Just right-click one or all three and select "Save Video As." These burn-in prevention videos include: 1280x720, 1920x1080, and 3840x2160 formats. The TV seems designed for movie playback; for that purpose, a budget build with networking between devices could work, ideally with at least six or eight cores.
