Hi, we often face issues linking those 2.4GHz-only home gadgets to our network. Our nanoleafs and roborock S8 vacuum take around 100 attempts before connecting, and even then it can be unstable. We’re using the standard Xfinity router, which works well for everything else in the house, but I’m unsure how to force a connection to the 2.4GHz network. Recently, our roborock dropped out completely, and I can’t get it back online. I attempted to split the 2.4 and 5GHz signals to create separate networks, but it still only connects to the 5GHz one. It feels like the device is trying to reach through my phone, which only accepts the 5GHz network. Although I’m fairly tech-savvy, my internet knowledge is limited. Is there a specific step I should take, or is this just a limitation of the Xfinity router? The devices are located in the same room as the router.

You might want to check apps like this one to find out how many nearby 2.4GHz networks exist. https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai...n_US&gl=US In an apartment, competing Wi-Fi signals are common. If your network shares the same channel as a nearby one, you may face issues. Good luck, but be aware that 2.4GHz can be challenging unless you use strong equipment and proper antennas.

It seems like many smart home gadgets rely on your phone to access Wi-Fi, which has been an issue. I suspect Xifity tries to automatically pick the best frequency, which might cause problems with some devices. I'm considering a third-party router and modem since others have reported similar problems with the XB6 gateway even though we're using XB7.

You might purchase your own router or wireless access point and switch the XB7 into bridge mode. Unless you use VoIP telephone service. If you have VoIP, you could turn off the Wi-Fi on the XB7 and connect a router to its 2.5 Gbps ethernet port.
