03-23-2020, 03:02 PM #1Hi, just got a gigabyte b550 aorus elite v2. We're attempting to boot it via NVMe but haven't succeeded yet. We've been trying for a few hours without any progress. The last thing I did was flash the BIOS for the new version, but it still doesn't boot. The NVMe worked fine with Windows 10, while the other HDD is booting normally in Windows too. It appears the bootable files show up for both Aorus modules and regular drives, but I'm not sure what's causing the issue.

03-23-2020, 04:23 PM #2The operating system wasn't pre-installed on the drive. You had to set up Windows yourself during installation.

03-23-2020, 09:04 PM #3He used a traditional HDD running Windows, but converted the NVMe to a storage drive. I had to use DiskPart to repair it. Eventually, I managed to install Windows on it using a USB drive.
A boot drive requires a hidden boot sector, followed by the labeled drive containing the operating system. Typically, after installing the OS, both the boot section and the OS are placed onto the drive. To transfer the sector and OS from the HDD to the M2, you can use a free tool like EaseUS ToDo. Simply enter the BIOS settings, find the boot options, and select the M2 drive as the first choice to boot from.
