Device won't send updates with new PSU
Hey! I recently bought a 750w EVGA psu. When I hooked everything up it turns on but it will not post. I jumped the 24 pin connector and the fan did spin. Any ideas on what is going on? Thank you! Some background on my system. It has a 9700k and a 1650 super but I recently upgraded to a 2080 ti and bought a bigger power supply with it. It all worked fine before however when I hook up the new power supply it does not post. But when I hook up my old 450w psu it starts up just fine. I’m extremely puzzled because I connected with EVGA and they told me if I jumped it and the fan spins it should be working properly
I see, let me clarify. Did you verify the tier specifications when purchasing this item? Just because it’s from EVGA doesn’t guarantee it meets the required quality standards. If it functions properly with your 2080ti and 450w PSU, the issue might lie with the power supply itself—perhaps a fault in the 12V rail that only outputs 11V instead of the full voltage. Have you tested turning it on repeatedly without flipping the switch? Your 750W G3 would fail to boot and then shut down after the first attempt, but once it works consistently, it behaves normally.
Which EVGA PSU version are you talking about? When you start it using the 450W power supply, does it reach the Windows desktop? The GPU is plugged into the PSU and it boots to Windows? If not, and you're doing this without connecting the GPU, the issue might be with the GPU itself. However, if it does boot to Windows with everything connected—including the 2080Ti—I suggest bringing it back and swapping it out for a brand new one. Edited October 8, 2022 by GeorgeMKane
