Installed a new GPU, drivers were applied but after restarting it still doesn't post. I managed to get it to post a couple of times, each time taking about ten seconds. Fans are spinning, lights are on. Tried with a different stick. Works occasionally. No USB connected. Works sometimes. Used a different HDMI cable. Nothing changed CPU 5600 GPU 6750xt (previously R9 270). MOBO asrock b550 phantom gaming itx/ax RAM 16 x 2 Corsair 3600 cl 18 PSU SF600 Corsair SSD Sabrent Q4 GPU connected via riser cable Gen 3 due to case Lian Li Q58

Have you checked updating the BIOS first? Then I’ll try placing the card in different slots. I’ve noticed it sometimes works in slot 2 or 3 but not in slot 1.

Yeah this is an itx motherboard, so it only had one slot. Bios is on the latest version prior to the install.

That's regrettable, it might be a compatibility problem but I'm not certain. Would you like to try another motherboard for testing the card? Or are there any other modern cards you'd like to check in your system?

I have gotten the new card to post and gotten the drivers for the card to install as well. It seems as theres one specific issue.

The motherboard is configured for Gen 3 on the port.

If you're not installing Gen3 on the x16 slot, the problem is likely there. The 6750XT uses PCIe 4.0 and your board supports it, but a Gen3 riser stops the negotiation, often causing a failure to start. I resolved it with my Fractal Design Ridge; they sent a free PCIe 4.0 riser, which worked even though it was labeled as PCIe 3.0. They were considerate of the situation.

I chose to revert to my previous GPU and experiment with the BIOS. It was clearly a Gen 3 versus Gen 4 situation.

You had the advantage of a GPU to handle the task, using your 7600 and 6750XT which made you rely on the integrated graphics. With the 5600, you're in a strong position without needing an extra PCIe 3.0 card. For your setup, it's wise to consider a PCIe 4.0 compatible riser, as you might need it later if you decide to keep the older GPU with a PCIe 3.0 riser.

I probably didn't catch the part about the riser cable. That's likely the main problem. If changing the port to Gen 4 doesn't resolve it, you'll need a Gen 4 riser.
