I've always configured my computer to power on when I press the power button, since it wouldn't wake from the keyboard. Recently, I upgraded the BIOS of my Z790 MAG Tomahawk WiFi to 7D91vHG and the firmware to ME_16.1.35.2557. Since then, there have been three instances where hitting the power button caused the PC to shut down. This is the only significant change I've made before this started happening. The occurrences happened when the PC was in sleep mode for several hours. Recently, I tried shorter durations—seconds, a couple of minutes, half an hour—and pressing the power button restored it. I reviewed the BIOS settings but didn’t find any changes that could explain this issue, as I’m not very familiar with them. Could anyone help identify what might be causing the problem? Also, can you advise on how to make the PC wake from keyboard inputs? Even though Device Manager is set to allow it, nothing seems to work. If helpful, please check the system specifications in the dropdown under this post and on my profile page.

What settings are configured in BIOS? ^ Make sure the enable option is activated if you haven't done so already. * My view: Modern computers and programs run extremely quickly, so sleep isn't necessary. Your work should be saved before shutting down, otherwise restarting takes about 2-3 minutes. A fresh start after powering off can provide better stability and performance than trying to recover from a messy system state.

It doesn't apply to me. I haven't been there much lately. I can review or adjust settings once I'm back. Please keep the suggestions handy for future replies.

While that is true I like being able to have my PC pop right up that way I don't have to wait for background start up stuff to complete. Additionally my PC is for gaming thus I have to start up steam Discord and depending if I am streaming other programs too. So I prefer to just put it to sleep as reopening all of them takes more time. I do a deliberate restart once per week anyways just to have a clean boot.
