Hello! Your computer is experiencing a significant power problem that prevents it from entering sleep mode properly. Instead of waking up, it shuts down completely. When you put it to sleep, you notice a clicking sound before it goes to sleep. While it’s asleep, the power button lights up and the RAM stays illuminated. Pressing the power button or trying to wake it normally results in another click, followed by the case lights flashing briefly, the GPUs lighting up, and then the system powering off.

I’ve tried adjusting power settings, disabling fast boot, and running PSU diagnostics via Command Prompt. The issue persists.

Below are the results from the two diagnostic tests I performed. I really appreciate any help you can provide.

You can watch a video that shows this problem here: [YouTube link]

Specs: Ryzen 7 5800X3D, RTX 3080, ASUS B550 i (BIOS 2803), Cooler Master V850, 80+ Gold, SFS power supply, 32GB, 3200MHz, Corsair Vengeance DDR4, Scythe Fuma 2, 1TB NVMe SSD, Windows 10 64-bit.

sleep functionality isn't reliable on Windows, particularly due to its complexity, often causing problems with drivers. On a typical desktop, the need for sleep is minimal. Make sure you shut down your system properly and turn off the 'power on after inactivity' feature in Windows.

It's better when you can rest without having to restart everything or worry about losing all your work. It's faster and avoids the hassle of saving and reloading repeatedly.

Hey Tyler, thanks for the video—it really clarifies what you're observing. Figuring out if the default settings have been altered or if BIOS/shutdown behaviors changed is tricky; it's like trying to catch a fly. Before suggesting any system tweaks, could you let me know how much this bothers you? My idea is we might waste a lot of time checking power profiles in Windows or running commands like 'win10 shutup' (the Chris Titus guide). I also want to avoid getting stuck in BIOS settings. The quick fix would be to set BIOS back to defaults (usually by pressing F5 during boot and then F10 to save and exit), then reset Windows to its original state—no personal data will be lost. Just keep in mind that many custom changes you make might be erased. It would help to start by asking how much it bothers you.

This situation is really frustrating for me since I’m going to be using this PC at college and it’s going to be unstable. I’m considering resetting the Windows settings or doing a full reinstall to check if that fixes the problem. I’ve already set the power options back to default without success, so I’ll try repairing Windows next and will let you know the outcome.

It seems you're experiencing the same shutdown problem again. You plan to check the GPU power cables and consider using a different power supply. Thanks for reaching out and letting me know—I'm here to help!
