I recently enhanced my laptop with 1×8GB RAM and an NVMe SSD. After using it for a short period, it stopped even though it was fully charged. When I powered it back on, the battery displayed 15-75% and it functioned properly. The battery depletes normally without shutdowns. I’m considering whether a better charger with higher power output would help. Laptop specs: Intel Core i5-8250u, Intel Graphics UHD 620, 2x8GB DDR4 RAM, 2TB HDD, 5400RPM, 250GB Kingston NV1.

It seems you're considering a fresh power source. The timing is cool, but as an 8th generation model, it's likely the original battery has worn out—possibly time for a new one. Updated September 11, 2022 by An0maly_76

I understand you might just need a fresh battery since other factors could be involved, though it’s unlikely. I’d start by testing the laptop without the battery to confirm the issue. If it persists, replacing the battery after 3+ years is advisable as they degrade over time. For longer life, consider removing the battery when using it on standard power sources—it helps preserve its condition. Additionally, avoid charging the battery fully to 100%, as excessive heat can shorten its lifespan.
