my pc shuts down suddenly when installing on the ssd or copying data. power button stops working instantly, even after removing the power cable from the supply. the display port cable connected to my gpu is also disconnected. i have to unplug the gpu cable too. my motherboard is Gigabyte B550 D3S2H, ram Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz 16GB, and psu Thermaltake 550 non-modular. windows is installed on a Micro-USB with a small form factor SSD. i have tried CPU stress tests, benchmark runs, and even used Gen 3/4 PCIe slots for the gpu, but nothing works consistently. the issue seems unrelated to any component i replace. please help me understand what’s going on.

The issue isn't related to the SSD, as it continues to fail even after removal. Static might be better since the system seems to activate a protective mode. Ensure your PC is correctly grounded.

the hub turns on even when the pc isn't running, the power supply is active, and using a tester didn't reveal any issues.

to verify it shouldn't short the case, observe whether the tester lights up correctly. if it does, it’s safe. additionally, ensure your pc is functioning properly.
